My sister-in-law, Martine, is running a marathon to raise money for the fight against Leukemia. I am so impressed! Here is the story:
Martine's Marathon #2
"Going at Cancer like a Tornado made of Arms and Teeth"
I said I'd never run another marathon, but this time I'm running in support of a great organization: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The money that I raise, thanks to your generosity (that's right, yours!), will help stop leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma from taking more lives. Leukemia is the number one cause of disease related death in children.
But honestly, I will be training and running to fight all cancers, its related sects and all of its supporting evil doing cells. I suppose I could get really specific, but I want to beat down cancer, pommel it, rip it's heart out and stomp it into a miserable bloody pulp. If that seems too graphic for you, you should go visit someone fighting cancer, trust me you'd wish it could be a "tag team" effort, so that you could "tag in" and take a turn beating the snot out of it -perhaps with a couple swift kicks to the head.
Also I will be running in support of a particulary brave little man, Matthew Valenti, who was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (A.L.L,) 22 days before his 3rd birthday. He has gone through chemotherapy which makes his legs "feel a little wobbly," and his family and friends are rooting for him to beat his cancer. Please consider a donation in honor of Matthew or someone you know who is battling cancer.
No amount is too small - every little bit will help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society get closer to finding a cure for blood cancers.
Thanks for cheering me on!
