We returned home yesterday after a two day whirlwind adventure. We left Durango in a snowstorm on Wednesday morning, survived the somewhat treacherous 4.5 hour drive and made it to The Orient Land Trust, a quiet, isolated nature preserve that offers many natural, outdoor hot springs pools and overnight lodging. The preserve has a beautiful view, overlooking the San Luis Valley.
We stepped outside of our comfort zone visiting these springs, as they are "clothing optional". We decided to take the option and all soaked sans bathing suits, except, ironically, our family nudist, Levi. Kids still in diapers need to wear a swimsuit. It was quite liberating, but I don't think I'll share pictures of the naked soak!
The weather was bitterly cold (down to -18 degrees), so the 96 degree pool didn't feel very hot, but the 106 degree pool was just right.
We spent a warm night in our little cabin and left for Poncha Springs early the next morning, where we put a downpayment on a new home!
That's right, we're going to live in a camper - a 1993 34-foot Airstream Excella 1000. In two or three months, we're moving to Nevada, to an area with no available housing, so we decided to bring our house with us. Now we just need to get a big truck to move our new home.
We made it home just in time to clean the house before Mark's parents arrived for a visit and soon after had to rush Moose to the animal emergency room for what we are hoping will turn out to be just an infection, she seems to be doing OK now.
AWESOME!!!!
