I've talked about it for months and it's finally happened - we have chickens!
The City of Portland recently passed a law allowing up to 6 hens in the city, which is where our little flock will reside. Because we travel often, this will be a joint venture between the boys & I and our neighbors, Maleah & Coco. The five of us each named one of the sweet little Araucana chicks, the girls include:
and Maleah's Gwendolyn Rose and my Ivy June, which both look just like this chick (I can't quite tell them apart yet).
The chicks spent some time free-ranging in the yard today, which they seemed to really love, perhaps almost as much as Silas, Levi & Coco already love them!
We're all looking forward to some beautiful blue-green eggs in about five months from now.
Don't woof, cluck!
Yes! Cluck on!

I've seen a lot of happy kids in my time, but your children are always smiling, so self confident and just a joy to be around... Love coming to see what the Shutty clan are up to today... Always a new adventure...

The photo of Levi and Zappy is so cute, it's as if he was thinking, "It just doesn't get much better than this!"

That is so sweet, thanks Heidi!

Where's Osama the rooster?

Believe me, Jason, I am very worried that there might be an Osama in the bunch. If so, hell end up in someones stew pot quickly!
Good to hear from you, hope you the family are doing well.

Michelle, look at those sweet little chicks, how could any of them grow up to be an Osama. Good luck if Zappy or Genevieve are roosters!! Somehow I picture you driving to Camp with two extra passengers!

Oh so sweet! I agree with Nana, that photo of Tiny is so thoughtful and he looks as if he has found his bliss! I am so happy that you guys have chicks! I love the names too.
