Due to wet weather and muddy forest service roads in Wyoming, Mark was able to spend a bonus week at home with us before heading West again yesterday. The extra week gave him time to finish a project in his newly set up metal workshop.
Mark crafted this giant sunflower out of recycled iron and copper from his extensive collection of scrap metal. It beautifully fills a previously bare wall that had been all but crying out for a bit of outdoor art.
Mark, Silas and Levi,
I love the sunflower/sun. It is huge and it looks fantastic on the side of your house. All three of you should be very proud of your work.
Mark, maybe you could get the sunflowers in a gallery in Portland, I know they would sell!

Thanks Mom. Silas helped me shape the petals and Tiny help me brush the finish on the warm steel.
