In the woods

The boys & I spent about 5 hours in the woods today, so it seems that life is getting back to normal.

During the hike, Silas, Levi and their friends caught snakes, salamanders and insects, found frog eggs, climbed trees, skipped rocks and dissected owl pellets.  Needless to say, they had a great time.

Silas finds a mouse bone in an owl pellet.

Arlo was there also, he spent the afternoon hanging out in the wrap, just sleeping and eating.  I think he had a great time too.

 

One month old!

A month has already passed since sweet, little Arlo joined our family.  It has been a wonderful month, not much sleeping has happened (on my part anyway), but there has been lots of loving, snuggling and admiring of our new baby.  We all just adore this little guy, Levi says he loves him so much that he can't even believe it and even more than that.

Arlo seems pretty happy.  He loves his milk and has grown a lot, as you can probably tell by his new extra chin!

Two beaches

In an attempt to enjoy the first pleasant day of spring so far, we visited two beaches yesterday.  Pine Point was just too cold & windy, so we moved to Ferry Beach and it was beautiful - it gave us hope!

My band, Stuck In Neutral, is in a rock band competition to determine Maine’s best High School Rock Band in the State of Maine. Over the past 6 months, 9 bands  have been given many tasks. One of them was to write a song which had to be named “ I Scream at Walls”. We had to write the song, record it, market it and sell it on I Tunes. The final portion of this competition was to make a music video of our song, and then put it out on you tube to be voted on by the public.

3 weeks old

Some things we've learned about our sweet baby Arlo in the past few weeks:

~ As Silas says, he is a very good milker

~ He sleeps a lot, more than we remember either of his big brothers sleeping

~ He doesn't cry much, but grunts often, especially in the very early morning hours

~ His little feet are the softest things any of us have ever felt

~ He travels well -  a good thing when you're a part of this family

In other news, it is now mud season in Maine,

and we're still snowblowing.

Fishing has started, although the ice isn't quite out yet.

We are easing into Spring this year; last year at this time we already had peas planted.  But it's OK, we're busy enough admiring our new little boy.

Out & about

 

Arlo spent his first full week in the house, but over the last few days, he has ventured out into the big world.  For his first big outing, he got all dressed up.  I love these little pants, I knit them way back in the fall using special angora & merino wool that Silas & Levi helped me pick out for our new baby.  Somehow, before he was born they ended up in the washer & dryer and shrunk considerably.  I never thought he'd be able to wear them, but luckily he is a petite little guy and they fit!  So cute.
