Day at the beach

It is the 2nd day of spring and it feels like summer.

We spent an awesome day with friends at Crescent Beach.

Arlo loved it!  Like his brothers, he was busy for hours playing in the water and sand.  He only became cranky when I asked him not to eat sand, sticks or shells.  He has a new evil eye that lets us know when he isn't happy, here is an example:

In a totally unexpected move, Silas and his friend Dominic went swimming! 

The ocean temperature averages about 40 degrees F right now and they both went in twice.  But, as you can see from the video, taking that first plunge was really hard for Silas!

 

New pet

Mark brought a new pet home from Arizona, here he is, about to enjoy lunch:

Our little Levi is 6 years old!

We had such grand plans for celebrating this birthday.  We were to drive to Montreal the day before, spend his birthday at the Science Center, then have dinner in Old Montreal (he even bought a suit to wear) and the following day, take the train to Toronto for a week (Levi has been anxious to return to Toronto since his last visit two years ago).  Unfortunately, we had a big snowstorm the day before, so we spent the morning of his birthday driving.  Silas became pretty sick on the way, so we couldn't leave the hotel room and the boys and I packed up and drove the 276 miles back home the next day!  He did get to swim in the hotel pool and order room service dessert, but it was a pretty bad birthday.

When Mark returned home from Toronto, we planned a redo birthday, but that morning, Levi came down with a horrible sickness and his redo was canceled.

He is thinking about what he would like to do for his 3rd redo birthday, coming soon.  I hope he will finally have a happy birthday!

Sauna

The Lazy Sauna at Freedom Camp, built in an old garden shed, which might have once been an outhouse, is finished and it is beautiful.

Mark & I spent a lot of time enjoying the sauna in the last month (separately, as Arlo isn't really into it), but surprisingly, we weren't the only ones spending time in it.

Silas & Levi really like it too, they usually sauna for about 5 minutes while Mark or I are in there.  One night, Mark fired up the woodstove before going for a run.  When he went to check on the fire after running, he found Si & Levi inside - they were outside & discovered the sauna was hot, so they stripped down & went in!
