  • Actual happiness looks pretty squalid in comparison with the overcompensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn’t nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand. - Aldous Huxley, Brave New World
  • Education
"Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the stars and the mountains above. Let them look at the waters and the trees and flowers on Earth. Then they will begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education." -David Polis
  • "Above all, do not lose your desire to walk: every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness; I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it... but by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one becomes to feeling ill... Thus if one just keeps walking, everything will be all right." -Soren Kierckgaard
  • Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. - Albert Camus
  • How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. Annie Dillard

I've so missed the blog updates! Just stumbled upon this tonight. Thank you for sharing. Love your travels and photos. The boys are so grown up!! And these are from last year. Hope to visit at some point this year.
Love, Suz

I agree with Suz, I haven't been looking at the blog but I absolutely love these photos and miss seeing all that the boys are doing. They are the best photos. My favorite, of course, is the five boys together. I will treasure that photos!
The next favorite is your family photo. I'll have to print those out. The scenery is so beautiful. I was looking for the first photo we ever received from you of Silas. Think it was taken at the hospital. Mark emailed it to us in Germany. I was wonderful if it looked at all like Leo. Do you think we could ever get all seven boys together? I guess almost impossible but maybe someday. Please keep the blog going, I really miss it so much and now you have so many exciting things going on. I know it requires a great deal of time but I love looking back at all the years and all the comments. It is better than a photos album. Love, love, love the photos of your trip!
